Business students raise money for orphans
The Dean's Business Team at the School of Business and Management (SBM) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) held a charity bake sale on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 to collect donations for orphans.
Sponsored by Tasty Image, Tim Horton's, Yogurberry, Kitsch Cupcakes and Krispy Kreme, the sale was organized to collect donations to assist orphans in the UAE. The tag line of the event was "Eat, Smile, Give" and called on people to eat their favorite delights, share smiles and fun with friends, and give the underprivileged members of the community a reason to smile. In additional to delicacies from the official sponsors of the event, there were other treats to be enjoyed from other brands in the UAE.
Proceeds for this event were donated to Dubai Cares, whose representatives presented a certificate to the Dean's Business Team.
Hundreds of AUS students and faculty members from the business school and beyond gathered at the SBM building to support the cause. There were continuous updates on Facebook and Twitter as pictures, comments and updates were posted by the students during the event.
"I am not here for the purpose of doing business, but rather I want to be a part of this noble cause and contribute in every manner possible," said Talal Al Gouaied, CEO of Tasty Image, who was present at the event.
Gouaied said he was delighted to see the phenomenal response for the event and congratulated the Dean's Business Team on their commendable effort.
The event was also attended by Dr. Malcolm Richards, Dean of SBM, and Dr. Allan Paul Williams, Associate Dean, who extended their best regards to the participating companies as well as the whole DBT Team. They applauded the Dean's Business Team's effort to put together such a successful event and said they hoped to see more of these events at SBM.
