Google searches for talent at AUS
A representative for Google, the American multinational Internet company, spoke to students and alumni of American University of Sharjah (AUS) yesterday, November 1, at the university's Lecture Hall A, urging them to seek careers with Google.
Matt Mitro, University Programs Specialist for Google, told the packed audience that the company has a wide range of available positions that both students and alumni can apply for at the company, which is famous for its search engine bearing the company's name.
"We have full-time and internship positions that you can apply for, and I promise you that when you get in, you will realize that Google is a great place to work," Mitro said.
According to Mitro, Google runs a 10-12 week student internship program where students from the region who qualify for the internship are taken to Dublin, Ireland, where they are fully integrated to the company's business team. During that period, interns receive ongoing mentorship and training as they participate in a structured program of education and social activities to ensure that they have a productive experience at Google that will help grow their personal and professional skills.
"There are also other opportunities such as the Online Media Associate Program (OMAP). This is a two-year, team-based developmental program for new hires primarily located in Dublin, Ireland, and Wroclaw, Poland. This program will equip our new hires with the business, marketing, analytical and leadership skills needed to be successful at Google," said Mitro.
During his presentation, Mitro gave the background of the company, explained the working culture of Google and listed the benefits of working for Google.
