AUS students celebrate International Women’s Day
School of Business Administration (SBA) students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) held a special ceremony marking the annual International Women's Day on March 8, 2015 on campus.
The event began with an opening speech by Linda McLoughlin, Senior Lecturer in Marketing at SBA, who welcomed the students to the ceremony and expressed her pride towards students' commitment and understanding of International Women's Day.
The ceremony focused on women's achievements across the world and gave them recognition for the role they take in our society. "Here in SBA we particularly want to focus on women's achievements in business and we want to inspire our young women to go into business, think of the highest possible leadership position they can find, and commit to it," said McLoughlin in her opening remarks.
The event stressed the importance for young men to support young women on their journey to the top."
Two Arab Women in Leadership videos were premiered at the event and students were given the opportunity to see the launch of Women in Leadership website as well.
The event concluded with games, refreshments and a poster exhibition done by SBA students.
