AUS highlights forensic science topics
American University of Sharjah (AUS) hosted the second part of the Forensic Science Experts’ Series seminar as they recently hosted Dubai Forensics Science and Criminology Department to lecture students, faculty and staff to the practical and theoretical experiences in the forensic science field, October 4.
Organized by the department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at AUS, Dr. Fuad Tarbah, the Director of Training, Research and Development Department at Dubai Forensics Science and Criminology Department, gave a lecture titled, “Drugs: A Forensic Perspective” on campus. The lecture provided a general overview on the classifications of the known drugs and their physical dependence including overdoses.
Dr. Tarbah also presented cases on drugs smuggling and the forensic role in such cases including presumptive and confirmative analyses. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Tarbah shared with the audience the opportunities in the field and answered their questions.
The seminar was attended by members of AUS community, including students and faculty members interested in the topic. Dr. Tarbah will give another lecture on October 16, while Brigadier Major Dr. Abdul Kader Al Amri, Director of Sharjah Police Forensic Laboratory will conduct a lecture on November 13.
